2006 RACE REPORT

First up well done everyone on completing the 4th annual Wild Turkey!

We organised another beautiful sunny day and even arranged for a low tide which meant the beach was nice and hard packed and easy to run on.  Although a few people said the head wind wasn't that nice!

This hard sand together with the dry tracks (mostly) meant there was some fast times with a few course records being broken.  Check out the records...[here]

We did receive some feedback on the day and also noted a few things ourselves, so have some improvements planned for next year.  We'll have a couple of extra toilets to cut those queues down a bit and likewise with registration - we'll have a couple of extra people helping and work on a better system.  The other thing we acknowledge that the prize giving was a bit long with all those spot prizes and no one there to claim them.  Next year we'll hand out spot prizes during the day as people cross the finish line and only do merit prizes and the major spot prizes at the end of the day.

RaceReviewer of the 2006 event is ...[here].  For those that haven't seen RaceReviewer - it is awesome.  It is a free application that lets you ‘replay’ your race performance.  You can use it to graphically display the location on the course you got passed by your training partner or to get an idea where you were when the winner crossed the finish line.  You can do this looking at an aerial photo or a 3d version.  On the 3d version you can go into follow mode and it automatically follows the selected person around the course.
