How long/hard is the course?

The course is 1.5km long and you can do it as many times as you like. The course is achievable for everyone and some more difficult obstacles are scaled to make it easier for a range of abilities. For example, the tyre jump has truck tyres for bigger people and smaller car tyres for younger ones. Those who want to challenge themselves can run it and do the obstacles as fast as possible. But for those where just getting out the door in winter is hard enough, they’ll find they can do it at their own pace and skip any obstacles that aren’t their cup of tea.

There is a separate nippers course at the school and that is just on the school field.

Do I have to get wet?

No! There is only one obstacle where you are guaranteed to get totally wet – in the mud pit. All other obstacles are dry, although the fields will be damp underfoot. There is a leopard crawl under a cargo net so they may get a bit damp when crawling on the ground. Again, if they really don’t want do, they can avoid it.

What kinds of obstacles can I expect?

While we don’t want to give everything away, you can expect a range of obstacles including a balancing beam, leopard crawl under a cargo net, rope climb up a hill and a slip and slide into a mud pit!

Can I run with my kids?

Yes! Nipper entries require an adult and adults are free. For the main course, adults purchase a ticket to enter the race via the website stanleybaymudrun.co.nz

What do I wear?

Shoes are compulsory and we highly recommend old clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit mucky in. It is best to bring a change of clothes afterwards to get dry and warm.

What if it’s raining?

It’s a mud run so a bit of rain actually makes it all that more fun! Embrace the winter weather and get out into it even if it’s not the balmiest of days. We will only cancel it if there is a severe storm.  We will have the hall open so if it’s raining you can stay dry while you wait for your wave to be called.

Is there somewhere we can get changed/store my gear?

Yes! There are boys and girls changing rooms available and there will be a bag drop area for your belongings.

Will there be food?

Yes, we will have a sausage sizzle as well as selling sushi and baking.
