2018 – WUU2K 62km Ultra Marathon

Woohoo! In Wellington, all registered and ready to go for tomorrow’s @thewuu2k 62km Trail Run in the hills of Wellington! Been looking forward to this for a while! Goals for the day written on the back of the profile including a more smooth run, saving for the big climbs so I’m controlling the pace I want. #nztrailrunning#ultrarunning @altrarunning_nz @tailwindnutritionnz @cepsportsnz@nakedrunningband #waitakerebushrunnerinwellington #fighternotalover#feedthemachine#trailrunning#wellington — at Wellington Region.

Arriving at the top of Tip Track
At the finish – Woohoo!

Had an amazing race at the WUU2k 62km Ultra. Spectacular trails and views surrounding Wellington. The race plan was to be smooth throughout and go hard for a couple of key climbs and I executed well. Thanks to running a decent section with @grantguise (we were keeping each other under control) and some decent self control which is unlike me, I managed to have some power for the final 10-15km and picked up a couple of places and finished strong. 6hrs 50 and 9th place for a great relaxed day out. Stoked!!! Full race report to come but this is an amazing event!!

Not content with yesterday’s @thewuu2k 62km ultra marathon I headed out on the biggest hill from yesterday with @grantguise to do some ‘recovery’ 😀 vert ⛰ We tried to join @timsutton9 for some of his ‘how many Tip Track climbs he could do in a day’ but couldn’t keep up cause he was beasting the climbs. So we did a couple of tip track climbs and another beasty climb nextdoor to add 3hrs 20km 1480m vert to the weekend. Legs felt good considering yesterday!! Thanks for the company Grant and thanks Wellington for the stunning views
