THE COURSE
The course is clearly marked and marshalled and takes you through rural Whenuapai’s gently undulating country roads, across the causeway, and around picturesque Herald Island (Half Marathon ONLY) as well as circumnavigating the Whenuapai RNZAF base; finishing in front of the Whenuapai School Hall.
NOTE: The roads will not be closed to traffic for the event.

Start/Finish Area: The start/finish area is inside Whenuapai School, Airport Road, Whenuapai.
Due to traffic management restrictions the course closes at 12:30pm. No participants can continue after this time.

REGISTRATION
Please pick up your race number and timing chip on Saturday, 27th March between 4-6pm at the Massey Athletic Club – 53 Granville Drive, Massey.
You will also be able to pick up your race number and timing chip on the race day at the Whenuapai School Hall from 7am on event day.
TIMING
Electronic timing chips will be used to time ALL of the races, including the 6k Walk/Run, 10k Run, 10km Walk, Half Marathon Run, and Half Marathon Walk.
FINISHERS MEDALS
Finishers medals will be handed out as you cross the finish line for 21,10 and 6km finishers
DRINK STATIONS
McKean Water will provide water at approx. 5km, 9km, 13km, 16km, and 20km around the course. For your benefit and safety, please remember to take plenty of fluids on the day.
Tailwind Electrolyte Drink will be available [on the course and at the finish line] this weekend to help quench your thirst and keep you hydrated.
GEAR DROP
The Whenuapai School Hall will be open so you can leave your gear inside.
FINISH
Water, fruit, and other small items will be handed out at the finish, after completing your run or walk.
TOILETS
There will be toilets available inside Whenuapai School and one on the course at 14.5km and 17km.
CAR PARKING
Car parking will be available on the grass triangle reserve, courtesy of the RNZAF. Drivers are asked to park as directed by event marshals. There will be no parking on the surrounding roads. Please do not park at the shops across the road from Pinepac.
DOGS
No, due to the roads not being closed and the number of participants, we do not allow dogs on the course.
PRAMS AND BUGGIES
Due to the nature of the event and the roads being open to traffic, we strongly discourage strollers on the course.
PRIZEGIVING
Prizegiving is at Whenuapai School at 11.30am.
FOOD AND DRINK
There will be a number of food stalls there on the day, as well as a massage available.
CERTIFICATES & PHOTOS
All competitors will be able to download and print their certificates from this website. A bunch of photographers from photos4sale.co.nz will be taking photos from throughout the course.
RESULTS
The results will be available soon after the finish on the website.
PROCEEDS
The Shoe Science Whenuapai Half Marathon and Fun Runs are managed by Lactic Turkey Events on behalf of the Massey Athletic Club. The proceeds from this annual event are the main source of revenue that enable the Massey Athletic Club to keep providing facilities, equipment and affordable registration fees to enable Massey and West Harbour families to participate in track and field athletics and cross country running at Moire Park.
